Calm Merge User Wellness Survey: 2026 Results
We surveyed 10,247 Calm Merge users to measure how consistent meditation practice affects real-world wellness outcomes. The results confirm what science predicts — and reveal some surprising findings about how quickly meditation works.
Methodology
This survey was conducted between January 2026 and June 2026 across 10,247 active Calm Merge users. Participants completed an onboarding survey when they first joined, followed by periodic check-in surveys at 30, 60, and 90 days. The response rate was 68%, with 6,968 users completing at least one follow-up survey.
All data was collected anonymously. Users self-reported their wellness outcomes and satisfaction levels. Platform usage data (session frequency, duration, time of day) was collected automatically through the app. The average participant age was 34, with 62% identifying as female and 38% as male.

Stress and Anxiety Reduction
Stress reduction was the most commonly reported benefit, with 78% of users noting measurable improvement within 60 days. This aligns with research from the American Psychological Association, which documents meditation's effect on cortisol levels and the stress response.
Anxiety relief showed even faster results: 89% of users who completed their first guided session reported feeling calmer immediately. By the 30-day mark, 74% of users with self-reported anxiety noticed significant improvement.
The most effective techniques for anxiety were breathing exercises (rated "very effective" by 81% of users) and progressive muscle relaxation (rated "very effective" by 73%). Guided visualization sessions were rated most effective for stress management (76%).
Sleep Quality Improvements
Sleep meditation emerged as one of Calm Merge's most popular categories, with 26% of users citing sleep as their primary concern. After 30 days of consistent practice, 65% of these users reported falling asleep faster, and 58% reported waking up feeling more rested.
The 4-7-8 breathing technique was the single most effective sleep tool, with 72% of users rating it "highly effective" for inducing sleep. Body scan meditation was the second most popular, particularly among users who described themselves as "overthinkers at bedtime."
Users who meditated within 30 minutes of their target bedtime reported 23% better sleep quality than those who meditated earlier in the day. The optimal session length for sleep preparation was 10-15 minutes.
Practice Consistency and Engagement
Consistent practice is the strongest predictor of wellness improvement. Our data shows a clear dose-response relationship: users who meditated more frequently reported greater benefits.

Implications and Future Research
These findings reinforce the growing body of clinical evidence supporting meditation as an effective tool for mental wellness. The speed at which users reported benefits — particularly the 89% who felt calmer after their first session — suggests that guided meditation removes many of the barriers that make traditional meditation difficult for beginners.
Calm Merge plans to conduct follow-up research including controlled studies comparing meditation techniques, longitudinal tracking of user outcomes over 12+ months, and exploration of how meditation impacts specific conditions like insomnia, ADHD, and chronic pain.
